Emily Hutchings is a sculptor, poet, performance and comics artist who is currently located in Albuquerque, NM. She graduated with a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015. She recently exhibited her first solo show of drawings at
Hume Gallery in May 2018, titled Give me an account of your doings from the moment that I ceased to be a witness to them. Her work has been a part of group exhibitions at the Sullivan Galleries, Threewalls, No Nation and Hume Gallery in Chicago, and at Arts Letters & Numbers in Averill Park, NY. Emily's work has been published in Lumpen Magazine, 3rd Language Collective and a variety of comics anthologies, including being listed in the Notable Comics section of The Best American Comics 2016. She has previously performed as a part of the Brain Frame and Zine Not Dead performative comics reading series, and through the Cards Against Humanity and Self-Publishers of Chicago (SPOC) live comics reading series. In addition, she has read her poetry at venues across Chicago, including at LVL3, Hume Gallery, and through the Tangelo and Wit Rabbit reading series.
