Emily Hutchings is a sculptor, poet, fibers and comics artist who is currently living and working in Pittsburgh, PA.
She graduated with a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015. In 2018, Emily exhibited her first solo show of drawings at Hume Gallery in May, titled Give me an account of your doings from the moment that I ceased to be a witness to them.
At Hume, she ran the weekly Movie Nights film screening series that ran from 2017-2018, and curated a short art film screening night at Comfort Station in 2018.
Her work has been a part of group exhibitions at the Sullivan Galleries, Threewalls, No Nation and Hume Gallery in Chicago, 516 Arts in Albuquerque, NM, and Office Space 2 in New Brunswick, NJ. Emily's work has been published in Lumpen Magazine, 3rd Language Collective and a variety of comics anthologies, including being listed in the Notable Comics section of The Best American Comics 2016.
She has previously performed as a part of the Brain Frame and Zine Not Dead performative comics reading series, and through the Cards Against Humanity and Self-Publishers of Chicago (SPOC) live comics reading series. In addition, she has read her poetry at venues across Chicago and Albuquerque, including at Corpus Arts, LVL3, Hume Gallery, and through the Tangelo and Wit Rabbit reading series.
